Today, Nike held an exclusive event in New York City to show off the second generation of its popular Nike+ FuelBand. Beyond the three neon color options now in production, Nike updated the device’s innards with hourly movement reminders and Bluetooth 4.0 so it can constantly be connected to your phone. A more water-resistant band is being used for the Nike+ FuelBand SE while a quick double-tap will bring up the time. Additional FuelBand improvements include the ability to monitor yoga activity and track sleeping habits, both of which are welcome and long-overdue additions.
Alongside the SE, Nike introduced the new Nike+ FuelBand app, available to FuelBand and FuelBand SE users. You’ll now see an activity curve at the bottom of the screen that shows you your level of activity throughout the day. In addition, you’ll see some statistics from day to day, week to week and so on. And is now the case with any fitness app, you’ll have the ability to share activity with friends and add locations. With these friends you can enter the group section and team up, for example, to achieve a certain goal. Unfortunately for Android users, this app is strictly for iOS users at the moment.
The Nike+ FuelBand SE will be available November 6 in the U.S., Canada and the UK, and will also be available in France, Germany and Japan for the first time. Pre-order yours now here.
