Black Roof House by Container Design

The Black Roof House is situated on a busy road in Kasai, Japan, and is accordingly designed to offer privacy and a feeling of relaxation. Architecture firm Container Design created the small-scale property with the black slanted roof as a focal point. The open plan living area is bookended by glass sliding doors allowing natural light to filter in, while a secluded tatami room provides a private and intimate space for the house’s occupants. A staggered staircase leads to an upper level loft that opens up to a terrace, offering views of the neighboring area. An attached three-car garage completes the ground floor space.
