Famed fashion photographer Mario Testino presents “ALTA MODA,” a photography exhibition of traditional Peruvian festive dress from the Cusco region. Originally held at Asociacion Mario Testino in Lima this past April, “ALTA MODA” is now at the Queen Sofia Spanish Institute, under the chairmanship of Oscar de la Renta. It’s a nice departure from Testino’s usual celebrity and fashion photography, a series of expressive portraits in which he “tried to fit as much history into each frame as possible.” Tupay and Majeno dancers are caught live in the moment dancing or playing instruments in dramatic costumes, capturing the true heritage of the country’s art form. You can view the full exhibit open to the public starting November 20 through March 29, 2014, at 684 Park Avenue.
