OTHER shop London take on warm layers for men’s and womenswear in the 03.5 collection. Designers Matthew Murphy, Kirk Beattie and Loukia Hay look to blankets and flannels as their source of inspiration, sourcing fabric from a textile manufacturer who has been producing heavy wool flannels for the British military since 1783. Hainsworth melton wool, often used in theatrical costumes, has been transformed into oversized men’s coats, painter’s jackets and a loose fitting biker jacket for women. The collection also includes waffle knits, heavy wool Melton suits, wide leg Japanese denim trousers and crew neck flannel shirting. On the lady-side, high-waisted wool crepe trousers, tailored herringbone cotton, dropped hem woven tees and a wool crepe layered full length dress. “The key focus is that the garment shape should always ‘envelope and wrap’ as a blanket, which meant that the shape had to be able to emulate this function but not overwhelm the wearer” See the lookbook shot by Willem Jaspert in our gallery and look out for the collection here.
