Walter de Silva and Audi Design Collaborate On “Luft” Armchair

Head of Volkswagon Group Design, Walter de Silva has teamed up with the Munich-based Audi Concept Design and created the “Luft” armchair for high-end Italian furniture manufacturer Poltrona Frau. Combining the crafting expertise of the furniture maker with Audi’s high-tech designs, “Luft” was created with the idea of an armchair providing perfect relaxation after a long day’s work. An aluminum element forms the feet and backrest of the chair, while a curved back and raised armrests are reminiscent of a bird’s wings, making the chair appear as if it is floating. Outfitted in premium Pelle Frau black leather, “Luft” manages to find a balance between cool, high-tech design and warm, supple leather.
