Located in Madrid, Spain, the Aluminum House by Fran Silvestre Arquitectos is a large rectangular volume that sits both starkly and harmoniously within its surroundings. Built with a concrete framework, aluminum paneling was added to the entire exterior to reflect the locale and create a contrast as well as merge the house with its backdrop. A central atrium spanning both levels brings natural light throughout the house, while the open plan living area on the ground floor opens up to the pool. Bedrooms on the upper floor feature shaded terraces that face North-South, providing privacy from surrounding properties.
