Part of the “Great Americans Series” Detroit’s Shinola design two limited edition offerings “created to honor iconic American innovators and industrial pioneers.” First up, a 500 run of watches based around the Brakeman style. Stainless steel cushion case, Super-LumiNova hands, a high-accuracy quartz Argonite 705 quartz movement and a Horween leather strap in chocolate brown with cream stitching. As always, assembled by hand in Detroit, the watch comes in a custom box with a certificate of authenticity, leather card wallet, leather carrying case and a leather-boundbook of photography from the Wrights’ private collection. If that’s not enough, 25 Wright Brothers Bicycles have been created using the 11-speed Runwell model, an American-made lugged steel frame in jet black with bamboo fenders and an old-fashioned headlamp. Purchase of either product comes with access to The Foundry, a private collectors club with a host of fancy pants benefits including previews and an annual tour of the Shinola Detroit factory.
