Weighing in on the artificial intelligence debate, Transcendence is a sci-fi action film set in the not-too-distant future, starring Johnny Depp and Morgan Freeman. Depp plays a computer scientist whose team is working toward technological singularity – the point when A.I. will progress past the point of greater-than-human intelligence. At the same time a radical anti-technology group tries to stop their efforts, resulting in a sci-fi thriller that might not be too far off in our future. The film marks the directorial debut of Wally Pfister, otherwise known as the master cinematographer of most of Christopher Nolan’s films including Inception and the Batman trilogy. Look out for Transcendence to hit theaters on April 17, 2014.
