Designed by GM Arquitectos, Gallery House in Pereira, Colombia was specially commissioned by a couple whose hobby is art collecting. Offering peace and quiet away from the nearby capital, the design was structured around exhibiting the art collection and having harmonious contact with the local surroundings. Bamboo was incorporated into the open-plan layout as the region is known for its abundance of the plant. Split over multiple staggered levels to preserve as much of the soil and land area, the house opens up with French doors to a central swimming and terrace area. To best exhibit the artworks and to not compete with the colorful surroundings, the house was kept white with light wood and bamboo furnishings.
