Tokyo-based design studio Specialnormal recently completed their latest project, designing the interior of the largest Nike Basketball store in Japan. At the shop entrance there is a space called the “initiative zone” with a large seamless screen, presentation table and free-throw space with a special stage to display the latest products. A shoe wall and presentation wall have been installed to surround the shop, along with a special Jordan Brand section at the rear. By reinterpreting the elements of conventional gymnasiums, Specialnormal carefully selected the most suitable materials for the brand’s image, such as smoke brown herringbone flooring, white-colored concrete blocks and wooden plates.
