Y-3 showed for the first time during Paris Men’s Fashion Week at the Couvent des Cordeliers on Sunday, January 19, 2014. With a mix of men’s and women’s pieces, the playful, optimistic and surreal collection features a range of retro-esque primary colors over functional, sporty garments. Presented in a black and white setting with neon backdrop, the show Yohji Yamamoto designed offering was a blend of technical and texture, with contrasting hand-drawn graphics and high-shine leathers, all tying back to an overarching superhero theme. Looking towards footwear, we see men’s multi-fabric trainers, Chelsea boots, desert moccasins and tribal-motif high tops. Also of note: the show was attended by Kanye West, who is now also working on his own adidas project.
