Casanova+Hernandez Architects Folds Adaptable Villas

Rotterdam-based studio Casanova+Hernandez Architects has designed three freestanding houses that feature a flexible design that enables the buildings to reflect the specific requirements of their users. A folding wooden wall is used from the villas, patios and gardens to create a series of enclosed spaces with different atmospheres. The structure’s flexibility enables occupants to not only design the individual housing units themselves but also the private, semi-public and public spaces that surround them, creating a connection between the dwellings and their environment.
