Where form meets function

What was merely a housing prototype for a competition in 1991 by architect Yung Ho Chang has recently come to fruition as the Vertical Glass House. The designer boldly swaps floors and ceilings with transparent glass which illuminates the entire windowless space. Occupants can enjoy unobstructed views from the basement all the way up to the sky, through levels of four stories. Currently, the building is home to visiting artists and architects and functions as a place for meditation. Perhaps a bit too “open” for some.
