Following our teaser shot from yesterday, we present a first look at the collaboration between Nike SB and Jordan Brand. Choosing the Air Jordan 1 silhouette, the two brought in multimedia artist Craig Stecyk who applied his signature tribal visual identity to the design, taking cues from Northwest Passage – his art installation that prominently features bronze casting and spray paint. The green and black upper features “AJ One SB” tonally scribed in a typeface designed by Stecyk that was originally featured in a skateboarding magazine in 1982. The same inscription also shows up on the insole.
Although initially designed as a high-performance basketball shoe for Michael Jordan, the sneaker inadvertently brought innovation to skateboarding. In addition to this first iteration, fans can expect to see three unique makeups created in collaboration with Craig Stecyk and Lance Mountain.
Look forward to the Nike SB x Air Jordan I on March 15 straight from nike.com.
