Capitol Hill House by SHED Architecture & Design

Situated in Seattle’s East Capitol Hill neighborhood, the Capitol Hill House by SHED Architecture & Design occupies a narrow plot of land on a busy tree-lined street. The client asked for an efficient, low-maintenance residence with the kitchen being the central and dominant part of the house. Opening out on either end to front and rear yards, the house manages to shield and offer privacy from multi-storey apartment buildings at its sides. The contrast of a smooth timber and steel grey corrugated iron facade, and white walls with polished concrete flooring makes for a modern yet comfortable living environment. Economical and sustainable methods have been implemented into the residence such as efficient heating, LED lights throughout the house, and the use of a water tank.
