The Gravity-Defying Spaceworkers House in Portugal

Some of the most impressive houses are the ones with seemingly endless amounts of space and light. Because in this day and age, those are two precious commodities that not only denote wealth but generally, and more importantly, contribute to a happier existence. The Portuguese studio Spaceworkers has constructed a house that is definitely strong on both. Located in Paredes, Portugal, the residence is one big megalithic structure that appears to defy gravity by sitting atop a transparent volume with transparent glazing. The ground floor is flooded with light and provides direct access to the outside and surrounding terraces, while the materials used such as wood, black stone and concrete all heighten the sense of contrast.
