Porter’s European agent, Thierry Lamoine, confirmed to Highsnobiety that this is a permanent colorway for the Tanker group. If you’re already jonesing for this latest Tanker iteration, London’s Dover Street Market have received their buy a month before other European stores.
Porter’s ubiquitous Tanker range has always been recognized in its iconic black and sage green colors. Despite the many collaborations and limited edition options that have followed, these two colors define the classic Tanker items. Currently proudly displaying on their entry page is the newest addition to the range, the Silver Gray colorway. Officially announced last month, it is now beginning to trickle through to the international markets. The obvious homage to the MA-1 flight jacket, reinforced with additional details such as the heavy-duty zippers and contrasting orange interior, has ensured its perennial success over the past three decades. Military historians have noted that, during the mid-’50s to early ‘60s, MA-1s were produced in silver gray to reduce the effect of glaring sunlight and decrease pilot visibility in the cockpit.
