10 Corso Como Milan’s Galleria Carla Sozzani opened the World Press Photo 2014: Photography and Journalism exhibition last week, displaying photographs that were on contest to win last year’s World Press Photo title. The WPP is said to be “one of the most important prizes for photojournalism,” reviewed by an independent jury of international experts. The exhibit’s aim is to go beyond showcasing beautiful photography and take the viewers through “crucial moments of our times that transcend cultural and linguistic differences.” Indeed, the photos on display — from over 5,700 photographers of over 130 nationalities — are powerful and moving. Browse the gallery to preview the exhibition and head here for more information. Open through June 8.
