Anyone luck enough to be in the LA area should make it their business to step inside The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), currently showing 50 works from the legendary sculptor Alexander Calder in Calder and Abstraction: From Avant-Garde to Iconic. Having caught a selection of his work alongside Jean Prouve at the Gagosian’s immense joint exhibition in Paris last year, we’d say one most definitely not to miss. It should also be noted that fellow American legend Frank Gehry is behind the design of the show, basing the layout and structure on a 1964 retrospective of the artist’s work at the Guggenheim. Exploring the artists “radical translation of French Surrealist vocabulary into American vernacular” iconic mobiles and large-scale stabiles structures will be on display until July 27, more info here. Take a look inside in our gallery.
