For Fall/Winter 2014, Matiere has drawn inspiration from Japanese conceptual minimalism, American workwear and upgraded street style silhouettes. Matiere, taken from the French word meaning “material” or “subject matter,” is the newly launched textile/tactile-focused fashion collaboration of Scot Shandalove and Jake Zeitlin.
The brand’s latest collection is the embodiment of the designers’ fascination with premium, state-of-the-art fabrics with origins across many continents – all materials used in Matiere’s collections are developed by and for Matiere exclusively. Highlights include proprietary pure indigo cotton/wool blend M65 jackets, quilted vests, shirts and pants that age like raw denim. With prices ranging from $100-$900 USD, the Matiere Fall/Winter 2014 collection will soon be available at select retailers.
