Retail giant H&M may be well-known for their designer collaborations (see: Isabel Marant, David Beckham, and Maison Martin Margiela), but this year, they employ an artist for the first time. The chosen one is Jeff Koons, maker of the famed Balloon Dog sculpture, who will decorate the facade of H&M’s new NY Fifth Avenue flagship as well as release a limited-edition bag. The new H&M store, to be the world’s largest one, will turn into a mini Koons exhibit on July 17 as a nod to his retrospective at the Whitney Museum of American Art. The retrospective is also sponsored by H&M.
A special-edition Balloon Dog handbag will accompany the partnership celebration, sold at H&M’s in New York, LA, and Dallas as well as online and The Whitney, for $50. Koons’ retrospective at the Whitney opens July 29. Find more info here.
