OMEGA and the Whitney Museum Celebrate the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon

Swiss watchmaker OMEGA OMEGA celebrated the launch of the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon timepiece with a cocktail party recently held in New York. Teaming up with the Whitney Museum of American Art, the launch was held at the Cedar Lake dance company and included guests Coco Rocha, New York Giant Jason Pierre-Paul and actors Jaime King, Patrick Wilson and Taylor Schilling.

The timepiece pays homage to the Apollo 8 astronauts who were the first to see the dark side of the moon with their own eyes. In turn OMEGA created its first all-black ceramic watch in honor of the Speedmaster Professional chronographs that were worn by every Apollo astronaut, resulting in the Speedmaster Dark Side of the Moon. The watch is crafted from a single block of black zirconium oxide ceramic, and is powered by a Co-Axial calibre 9300 Swiss movement – the first of the brand’s exclusive in-house movements to incorporate a chronograph function.
