Back on our round-up of the week, because who doesn’t like a good old fashioned list right? No easy task, we gather our top ten posts which included old-school sportswear, a London-based denim emporium, an erotic short film and a newspaper from one of footwear’s finest. Not a bad way to spend your Sunday eh? Head on in.
We took a tour of the Partners & Spade Boerum House & Home retail space designed in collaboration with architecture firm Flank, a beautiful light and airy art deco space in the Boerum Hill district of Brooklyn.
Russell Athletic continue to impress with their new take on archive goods. For their premium range Fall/Winter 2014 – old school sportswear featuring US team names across sweatshirts, hoodies, tees and caps.
The work of Charles & Ray Eames comes to life in a modern take on their classic designs. The midcentury masters would surely approve of Matthew Strong’s ergonomic carbon fibre sofa.
Camera in hand, we pay a visit to the knowledgeable folk at newly opened denim specialist Rivet & Hide, a one stop shop for geek or newbie, stocking labels such as Mister Freedom, Iron Heart and Dawson Denim.
Another ‘oh yeah’ collection from Daiki Suzuki as Engineered Garments explore the British army in India, and the traditional casuals of that region. Deep paisley prints, long length nehru collar shirts and madras checks sit against EG staples such as chambray shirts and casual suits.
We seriously enjoyed this short film from the crew at Jonathan Saunders label. Celebrating ten years, a very naked man interrupts the staid life of a well-to-do European family with a thing for fine knitwear.
The usual well-executed preppy affair, Oregon’s Archival Clothing visit University of Chicago campus for their back-to-school inspired 2014 shoot featuring American-made sweatshirts, tees, waxed trail caps, roll top messengers, backpack and totes in unfussy finishes.
Not content with simply making fine, rugged footwear, the people at Red Wing turn their hand to publishing, launching the first issue of The Red Wing Post, focusing on craft in all its forms.
Cristiano Berto impresses once again with another beautifully crafted 1st PAT-RN collection, this time for Spring 2015. Inspired by European workwear of the ’50s and ’70s, their Cavalry di Maglia wool/cotton blend plays perfectly against double twisted cotton twill and Italian selvedge denim.
Sweden’s Our Legacy put together a bold collection for Spring/Summer 2015. Flame print jumpers, crocodile jackets, white nylon zip tops, wide boxy trousers; both off-beat and wearable.
