Nendo treat metal like paper in their “Softer Than Steel” collection, an all-white furniture series made exclusively for Italy’s Desalto. Using slim sheets and skinny rods of steel, the Tokyo-based design firm bends, wraps, and flips the hard material into seemingly fragile sculpted objects. Favorites of the series include a bench whose back rest is formed by turning the center seating plane inside out and a wall-mount hanger/shelf that holds small items in its curved up compartment. See the full collection of the intricately constructed but minimally designed furniture above.
