Today brings with it the poster for The Hateful Eight as well as confirmation that it will see a release date somewhere around December of 2015. The cast thus far announced for the film includes Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins and Zoe Bell. While he delighted fans at Comic-Con with the news that he was moving forward with the project, the poster further cements the notion that we will have more Tarantino in our life in a year or so.
When Quentin Tarantino announced some months back that he was reentering the Western genre that gave us Django Unchained, obviously movie buffs were thrilled. But along the way, a script leak quickly derailed production with Tarantino swearing off making the movie in favor of a stage reading. At the time, he told Deadline, “I don’t know how these fucking agents work, but I’m not making this next. I’m going to publish it, and that’s it for now. I give it out to six people, and if I can’t trust them to that degree, then I have no desire to make it. I’ll publish it. I’m done. I’ll move on to the next thing. I’ve got 10 more where that came from.” What’s particularly interesting is that Tarantino did leave himself some wiggle room, saying, “I could totally change my mind; I own the fucking thing.”
