In 2009, Capital Records remastered and reissued the complete The Beatles album catalogs in both “stereo” and “mono” CD digital box sets. A few years later in 2012, The Beatles catalog was once again reissued, this time for analog purists looking for vinyl versions of the catalog, with packaging and treatments original to the recordings as issued in the 1960s. But that vinyl reissue only focused on the “stereo” recordings, considered the less dominant mixes of the time, due to the limitations of UK radio which only broadcast in mono.
Now, Capital Records has finally reissued the complete “mono” versions of The Beatles catalog, primarily for completists, who understand these mono mixes as preferred by the band themselves to the stereo mixes. The Beatles in Mono vinyl box set includes the band’s nine UK albums, the USA-only Magical Mystery Tour album, and the Mono Masters collection of non-album tracks on heavyweight 180-gram vinyl LPs. Like the original digital remasters and the stereo vinyl remasters, the “mono” vinyl box set is a thing of pure beauty and certain to be praised by audiophiles worldwide. Alongside the recordings, the box set also includes a 108-page hardbound book to complete the package. For enthusiasts, this is a very strong presentation of The Beatles as they were meant to be heard. Available online for pre-order now at Amazon.
