French designer Philippe Starck teams up with Moustache Bikes on M.A.S.S., a collection of four electric two-wheeler bikes presented at Eurobike 2014. The collection is an acronym for the four types of bikes designed for the expo: mud, asphalt, sand and snow. Each comes each equipped with technological specifications that offer users a unique experience in the various riding conditions from which they are named.
The mud iteration was developed around a dual suspension frame and high-end components, and is outfitted with the latest generation in gearing and Shimano XTR brakes. Asphalt, meanwhile, features a dual suspension frame and a Shimano alfine Di2 11V shifting system, is electrically driven, and connected to the Bosch powertrain. Sand comes equipped with large Schwalbe tires and a Bluto rock shock fork. A Bosch system and top-of-the-line Shimano XTR gearing and brakes conclude the model. Lastly, snow features a mono-arm fork and Bosch system, as well as the aforementioned Shimano XTR gearing and brakes. Synthetic fur covers the frame to protect its battery from extreme temperatures.
Complementing the bike collection is a line of custom-made accessories including glasses, gloves, and a backpack, alongside a range of helmets done in collaboration with Giro.
