Watch the Official Music Video for Grimes’ “Go” featuring Blood Diamonds

Canadian artist Grimes has released the official music video for her song “Go” which features production work from Blood Diamonds. Beginning with a spoken word intro taken from Dante’s Inferno performed by screenwriter and voice actor David Hayter (who voices Solid Snake from the Metal Gear series), the song, which she originally wrote for Rihanna, and video reflect Grimes’ stylistic sensibilities, incorporating electronic dance music with indie pop. Claire shed some light on the video’s concept:

It’s our take on Dante’s Inferno. The circles of hell reflect more contemporary issues though. We shot a bunch at the Salton Sea which is basically an apocalyptic wasteland filled with dead fish because of human carelessness, the bullet hole hallway a la korn freak on a leash, etc etc. If you look closely you can find clues. Haha, but in the usual fashion it is also abstract enough to just be a visual accompaniment to the song.

This new video supports Grimes’ upcoming performance at Jay Z’s Made in America Festival in Philadelphia this weekend. In other news, Grimes has confirmed that she’s indeed working on the followup to her 2012 album Visions. With no official information available as of yet, keep an eye out for further release details and enjoy the video above.
