Highsnobiety

Roughly 100 years ago, there was virtually no electricity in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and surrounding areas. For this reason, bright lights have since become a favorite amongst Saudi people and also act as a symbol of luck and modernity.

A few summers ago, Céline Stella was driving through the Saudi desert at night, as all of the sudden, the sky was lit up with neon lighting from various kiosks. The illumination and transition from pitch black to vibrant beams of light was undeniably eye-catching, so she decided to photograph these reflections of contrast. The result is NOUR, a limited edition 40-page book that highlights the colorful neon imagery found in the deserts of Saudi Arabia. Numerous printing and screening processes were utilized as to enhance the photos and make them pop while flipping through the pages.

NOUR is limited to 150 copies and can be purchased now.
