For one week each summer, tens of thousands gather together in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to celebrate Burning Man Festival – a temporary installation where participants can imagine and build their ideal society. There’s no cell service or internet, money doesn’t work there, and artists spend months building enormous pieces that they only intend to burn down by the end of the week.

Writer and photographer NK Guy first made the trip to Burning Man in 1998, and he’s gone back to photograph the event every year since then. To share his memories and striking imagery with the rest of the world, Guy has teamed up with Taschen on this photography book, Art of Burning Man. Take a look at some of the outstanding images above and head over to Taschen’s online store to pick up a copy.

Make sure to watch the below video, capturing some of the best moments of this year’s festival.
