Italian brand NEMEN goes from strength to strength as they present their lookbook for the ongoing season. As always, NEMEN takes traditional Italian tailoring and craftsmanship, and produces top-tier, entirely made in Italy garments featuring the latest innovative fabrics and garment dye techniques.
Every fabric used is woven from yarns, before being tested, finished and finally cut and tailored to produce an utterly unique garment that has attracted the likes of leading tech brands like ACRONYM. This philosophy holds true for Fall/Winter 2015, as a number of standout pieces are styled to show off just how much care goes into each one.
Highlights include the fishtail parka and field jacket, both with removable liner, which are constructed of a particularly sophisticated fabric with cavalry structure obtained through a process of twisting and texturizing a synthetic yarn of polyester to reach a natural hand feel. The resulting look is achieved thanks to the preparation process of the yarn before weaving, and then emphasized through garment dyeing which lends the garment a high-gloss surface, while the microfiber weave, by exploding and swelling, supplies a soft but firm feeling to the fabric.
The bomber overshirt, meanwhile, is made of an ultralight nylon fabric bonded with a special MTP thermal insulating foam and a polyester backer to protect the lamination. The fabric is rigid before the treatment but during the dyeing process, the different fabrics de-bond creating a soft and lightweight feel. The interlayer in the MTP thermal keeps the body's natural heat inside creating an insulating shield.
The foul weather parka comes constructed of gabardine, a tough fabric prepared for dyeing with resins that when done properly create a special dusty/uneven effect on the fabric's surface.
The zipped hoodie features a wool exterior for warmth and natural water repellency, while the cotton interior provides familiar comfort and breathability. A nylon hood and yoke naturally protect against wind and rain.
Lastly, the trusty quilted vest is made of ripstop nylon fabric with quilted wadding. The piece is ultra lightweight with high insulation, featuring opaque nylon on the inside and unlike feather, it's very sensitive to moisture and the synthetic padding used for this fabric ensures protective properties in case of rain.
