French luxury shoemaker J.M. Weston honors the legacy of legendary artist and pioneer of Nouveau réalisme, Yves Klein, with a special-edition version of its Le Moc shoe: the Le Moc J.M. Weston Yves Klein.
Originally launched back in 2015, the Le Moc is a supple, brightly-colored version of J.M. Weston's 180 mocassin loafer, designed to be worn barefoot for nonchalant steez. The label has reissued a limited edition version of the loafer in a striking royal blue, in tribute to Klein's "Blue Epoch" monochrome works.
For those who aren't so hot on their Nouveau réalisme, Yves Klein draped his signature blue hues over monochrome paintings (that's a canvas filled in with one color), and opted for a rich blue reminiscent of the lapis lazuli used to paint the Madonna's robes in medieval paintings. Klein would soon become so obsessed with the color that it would come to be known as IKB ("International Klein Blue") in tribute to the artist.
The Le Moc J.M. Weston Yves Klein has been expertly crafted from plush pebbled leather and suede, and features a Goodyear-welted sole and classic penny loafer-style upper.
Just 1,500 pairs of the special edition moc will be available – in both men's and women's sizes – from March 15 at J.M. Weston's boutiques in Paris (Champs-Elysées, Madeleine, Saint-Honoré, Le Bon Marché), London, Geneva, Aoyama and Shanghai.
