After appearing in and co-authoring two tracks on Beyoncé’s Lemonade, James Blake has made a surprise drop of his own. His long-awaited third album was quietly uploaded onto streaming services last night with almost no warning. It’s titled The Colour in Anything, and at 17 tracks it is his most ambitious, substantial record to date.
Blake has always been unique in his ability to marry elaborate chamber music with cutting edge hip-hop beats, but that relationship has been fully realized thanks to production from the one and only Rick Rubin. And even though the world has been waiting what seems like decades for Frank Ocean’s new album, the crooner not only shares co-writing credits but miraculously makes an appearance with Blake in a gorgeous duet titled “Two Men Down.”

Blake wasn’t the only one who dropped an album last night, grime rapper Skepta just released his fourth LP Konnichiwa.
