Though it was claimed that Demna Gvasalia had no part in producing Balenciaga’s Women’s Pre-Fall 2016 collection – it was the work of the house’s internal team – there are skeptics who’ve labeled select pieces as trademarks of his aesthetic. So it wouldn’t surprise us if word got out that he watched the process from afar, lurking behind the scenes while biting his tongue.

Similar to Balenciaga’s most recent men’s collection, new women’s offerings – at least, as conveyed by campaign imagery – derive their influence from preexistent styles, although it should be noted that the label has verged its turning point with the introduction of large Balenciaga labels.
