Style
Where the runway meets the street

As we close the curtain on London Collections Men, we continue to stride through SS17 fashion month by heading over to our next destination, Milan Fashion Week.

Visiting a new city is always a gamble. Between figuring out where to stay, what to do and how to get around, planning your itinerary isn’t easy. Throw fashion week into the mix, and the stress just reached new heights. If you’re a seasoned Milan Fashion Week attendee, then you probably know your way around the stylish Italian city by now. If not, don’t worry – you’re not completely in the gutter.

Street style photographers are professional globetrotters, so they know a thing or two about what places to hit up during each city’s respective fashion week. I hit up a few of our shutterbug friends to weigh in on their favorite Milan hot spots so that you get the most out of your stay (provided you have the time, of course).

Check out our London guide and be sure to stay tuned for more fashion week guides as the ensuing festivities take place throughout the month.

Best Hotel

Maison Borella
Maison Borella

“Airbnb.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

The Maison Borella in Navigli. It’s the only part of Milan I actually enjoy, and the hotel feels like home.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

3RoomsExcelsior Gallia and the STRAF.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“I always stay near Navigli, most of the fashion people stay in this area and the canal is beautiful and reminds you that you are in Italy. It’s also very close to Porta Genova, which is very helpful as it’s one of the main subway lines that pass through the city. So the best option is either an Airbnb in the area or nhow Milano, which is a cool hotel designed by Matteo Thun.”

Best Cafés to Hit up Between Shows

God Save the Food
Museeum

Princi bakery is great for a drink and a pizza slice, but any place in Milan serves great coffee/tea and a quick bite!”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“I go to Mag Cafè in Navigli before I head out to the shows. Then God Save the Food on Via Tortona when I get tired later on in the day. But it’s Italy, so the coffee is great everywhere.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“God Save the Food in Tortona – great location during fashion week because it’s close to White tradeshow and the Armani show, among others. Also, Cova if I’m in Montenapoleone and Chocolat in Cadorna.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“Some shows are near Fondazione Prada, so it’s always a good plan go to Bar Luce for a coffee. Another one I always go to is God Save the Food in Via Tortona: I recommend the croissants with ham, cheese and lettuce.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Place to Grab a Cocktail

Gin012
Officina 12

“I don’t really go out for cocktails in Milan.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Mag Cafè or Gin012, but more likely would be a glass of wine at home while editing.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

Rita, at the end of La Darsena. They do the best cocktails in town. Also, Surfer’s Den by Via Meda and Mag Cafè on the Navigli, their bartenders are great.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“Although it might sound weird, I’ve never gone out for a proper cocktail or drink in Milan. If I have the time, I would rather go to one of the fashion week parties.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Fashion Week Party

Philipp Plein FW15 After Party
Elle

“Due to workload, parties are very rare. ”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Phillip Plein and Marcelo Burlon.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“Marcelo Burlon. Their parties always have the best music and live rappers.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“Phillip Plein and Marcelo Burlon.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Stores to Grab a Last Minute Outfit

SAI Industry

Antonioli.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

Inner and Antonioli.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“Antonioli, Inner and One Block Down.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“A good store to buy a last minute outfit in Milan is Antonioli. Claudio, the owner, and his buyers are always featured in Highsnobiety street styles.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Neighborhoods to Hang out for Style Inspiration

Navigli
Sara's Migration Pattern

“Brera.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Navigli.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“Navigli area and Tortona.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“During fashion week, it’s easy to see stylish people around showrooms like White in Via Tortona, near Porta Genova, or Marcona 3.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Means of Transportation & Mobile App

Citymapper
Skift

“Metro is still the fastest. Each city has their own metro app but the Google Maps app usually works the best.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Uber errwurr.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“The application I use the most is Citymapper. Taxis or bikes are also great to get around.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“Citymapper!”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Area Most Likely to Get You Street Styled

Navigli
Eva Al Desnudo

“Brera.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Go to the shows!”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“Navigli area, from Colonne di San Lorenzo to Porta Genova.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“During fashion weeks, we’re usually around every show, so the best way to ensure that you have the chance of getting shot is going to every show outside the different venues in the four main cities.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Restaurants to Get Dinner After a Long Day

Larte
Scatti di Gusto

“You can get great pizza almost everywhere (obviously). 202 Hamburger & Delicious has the best burgers in town though.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“Same as my cafe selection.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“I like the burrata (my favorite dish) at The Small. Angelo’s Bistrot in Via Savona, Drogheria Milanesi in Navigli and Cascina Cuccagna (a real cascina with a little garden).”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“After some of the shows in Piazza del Duomo, you can get a traditional panzeronni at the well-known restaurant Luini. My recommendation for getting a good pasta dish is at Larte – it’s very central and has delicious pasta with a modern twist.”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo

Best Sights to Visit After a Long Night out

Fondazione Prada
Blaine Brownell

Fondazione Prada in Milan is great.”
-Acielle, @styledumonde

“I love to run at night through Navigli out of the city, or run from Navigli to the Castello or around Parco Sempione. It’s like speed tourism. You see everything in an hour. Fondazione Prada is beautiful, but not as great as everyone will tell you on Instagram.”
-Adam Katz Sinding, @le21eme

“I would go for a stroll through Parco Sempione and L’arena. It’s relaxing and beautiful. Plus it’s in the most central park of Milan.”
-Julien Boudet, @bleumode

“I have never been to Milan outside of fashion week, so I’ve never had the chance to think about it!”
-Eva Al Desnudo, @eva.al.desnudo
