Recognized for channeling the spirit of Russia’s youth culture into his works of fashion and photography, Gosha Rubchinskiy has found a great deal of success in the past decade in his niche. However, the Russian designer’s vision expands well over those two areas, as it has become apparent that he also has an affinity for fostering up-and-coming talent. Enter Dominic Sesto, the 18-year-old filmmaker that shot backstage at Rubchinskiy’s SS17 runway show which took place at an abandoned tobacco factory.

Originally approached by Rubchinskiy on Instagram, Sesto formed a bond with Rubchinskiy over the course of a few meetings, which eventually led to the coupling of their creative minds for the film project. According to Sesto, the Russian designer gave him “free rein to do what I wanted” – a testament to Rubchinskiy’s faith in Sesto’s creative vision.

According to Sesto, the pair will be working together again in the future for a few new projects.
