Heading out for the night is more than just “going out”—it’s an adventure all on its own. Whether you’re walking down the local bar or traveling to a friend’s house party, the moment the sun goes down, you can feel it. It’s an entirely different landscape.

But it’s more than just a change of scenery. People come to life when the darkness falls. No longer tied down by schedules, rules or expectations, we are liberated to be ourselves. Someone may be mild-mannered by day, but transform into the life of the party by night. In honor of this transition, BACARDI rum has launched a global campaign called “We Are The Night,” affirming that the night is so much more than a time of day. It’s a different world with different behaviors.

The campaign short film celebrates those who come alive after dark. Hop into the backseat of your neighborhood taxi driver and rub shoulders with the “Brave Shirts” and “Still in Work Shirts” as you head to happy hour. Later, as the “Lords of the Playlist” snatch the aux cord—inspiring the “Careless Dancers” to dominate the dancefloor without disgrace—the “Fashionably Late Comers” arrive just in time.

But it’s not just the people that you encounter at the bar or party that make a big night out memorable, it’s those you meet on the way home too. Jacket-less “Ice Maidens” dash from club to car to escape the night-time cold, while kitted out “Coat Check Skippers” take a beat after leaving the bar. Hey – you’d be overheated too if you intentionally skipped past coat check and partied in your jacket for an entire evening.

But the night closes out as quickly as it comes together, and while some of the dark’s bystanders are lit up by the lights of their favorite late-night food joint, “Last Train Sprinters” lap crowds of “Midnight Feasters” as they attempt to make it home before sunrise.

Which nightlife persona do you most relate with? Let us know using the hashtag #WeAreTheNight. Check out the video above and remember that no matter what you’re up to: together, it's always more exciting at night.
