For AW16, COMME des GARÇONS and Rei Kawakubo looked to the 18th century for inspiration and ended up interpreting something akin to a dadaist fever dream. Featuring exploding dresses, corsets mixed with bondage straps, and… floral curtains, the collection was enough to make new kids on the block like Vetements look positively vanilla by comparison — all the while reaffirming COMME’s status as arch conceptualists.

Now, in a new editorial for AnOther Magazine, director Nick Knight and stylist Katie Shillingford have exploited the fully brilliant weirdness of the collection by casting it in a surreal and fantastical short. Opening with some heavy vaporwave vibes, the clip then glitches and splutters between various clothes shots in a way that is at once beautiful and utterly terrifying.
