Little more than a year since Audi unveiled its most powerful production car of all time, the R8 V10 Plus, the German car manufacturer has gifted us with an insanely quick drop-top version in the form of the R8 Spyder.
Car industry insiders will often tell you that if you take the roof off of a car, you will only end up with a compromised version of the original — that can’t be said of the Spyder. It has the Quattro four-wheel drive system and its screaming V10 right behind the driver is louder and more ferocious, offering up a whopping 533hp to get you hooked. It’ll do 0-62mph (0-100km/h) in just 3.6 seconds, and has a top speed just 3 miles shy of the 200mph mark, at 197mph (317km/h.)
Outside, the design and trimmings look slick and streamlined, while its fabric roof comes with multiple layers to keep out the noise and cold when it’s fixed in place. According to Audi, the transformation only added 110lbs and is said to be 55 percent stiffer than the coupe. Inside, you’ll get all the mod-cons and premium leather that you’d expect for a car that costs $175,000.
