It is no longer up for debate that Charlie Heat is one of the biggest producers in the game. Perhaps we have his name-checked feature on “FACTS (Charlie Heat Version)” from Kanye West’s The Life of Pablo to thank, or perhaps it’s just his raw, unbridled talent as a producer. No better case can be made for the latter than in our new mini-documentary with Charlie above, wherein we get an up-close and personal account of the producer and his work.
Charlie reveals in our interview that he initially pursued dual careers in basketball and music, right up until he saw a drum-line performance in high school that pushed him headfirst into music. He’s been creating tracks as producer since the ripe age of 17, and he takes the job seriously. We interviewed several of his peers and collaborators as well, and all agree that the man does not fool around in the studio.
He also dishes on the full story behind his signage to G.O.O.D. Music, a process that ended up being far faster than one might imagine. Watch the documentary above to get the whole scoop.
