Highsnobiety

We've had cryptic, tension-building hints and teases of Scarlett Johansson and director Rupert Sanders’ live-action Ghost in the Shell remake (see here and here), but last night Paramount finally revealed the first full trailer — and it's incredible.

Debuting at a star-studded event in Tokyo, Japan, the trailer begins with a brief introduction from Johansson, before launching straight into the exhilarating and visually-stunning action. There's shots of skyscraper-sized advertisements, Pilou Asbæk’s crazy cybernetic eyes and, of course, plenty of The Major. There’s also more bizarre but welcome clips of oddities like the robot geishas and Johansson with half her skin peeled off.

It remains to be seen whether or not the film will be able to win over the critics, many of whom have criticized Johansson’s casting in a role which is seen to be quintessentially Japanese. Until then, watch the glossy, heavily-stylized trailer above.

After you've finished, here's how Back to the Future, The Simpsons and more predicted a Donald Trump presidency.
