Here’s some exciting news for anime fans: legendary anime director Hayao Miyazaki is back.

Miyazaki, who worked on anime film classics Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke, retired in 2013 but has elected to return to transform a 20-year project titled Kemushi No Boro (Boro the Caterpillar) from a CG short into a full-length feature. Miyazaki was allegedly dissatisfied with the Boro the Caterpillar‘s final product as a short, and wanted to realize its full potential.

According to Miyazaki, the film could potentially take around five years to make, but could possibly be complete before the time of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Currently, Miyazaki is in the process of planning storyboards – exciting news for a surely exciting film.
