Thanks to the ever-growing stature of their new single "On Hold," The xx's impending album I See You has become one of the most highly-anticipated of the year. Now, to fan the flames of hype even more, the trio has just released an accompanying visual for the lead single.
Directed by acclaimed photographer Alasdair McLellan, the video was shot on location in the classically American landscape of the small town of Marfa, Texas. It combines footage of the band, intimate portraits of the town's local football players and cheerleaders, and faux-archival footage that blend the two together. It is a surreal collage of a familiar setting, and the end result is one that gazes piercingly at the nature of human connection, much like the band's music itself.
Look out for The xx's I See You to drop on January 13.
