It’s probably true that most people associate corduroy with pretentious blazer jackets and god-awful flares from the ’70s, but seemingly adidas didn’t get the memo. For 2017, The Brand with the Three Stripes has clad its all-conquering NMD R1 in the quaint fabric, and somewhat surprisingly, it looks pretty dope.

Shared on the account of Instagram user @sneakerprophet_, the silhouette’s upper primarily consists of dark gray corduroy, with tonal three stripes and a Boost sole providing contrast. Undoubtedly, it’s the smartest NMD we’ve seen so far, and perhaps indicative that adidas is ready to experiment further with its much-loved model.

Further information on the kicks is currently thin on the ground, but look out for these being formally announced in the near future.

We recently inspected the much-hyped NMD City Sock 2.
