Yesterday it was announced that Eddie Vedder was slated to perform at the event surrounding Barack Obama's farewell speech, which took place in Chicago last night. But a performer who was not previously revealed was BJ the Chicago Kid, a natural pick given the locale. BJ was on hand to give a heartbreaking rendition of the national anthem. Watch his performance below.
BJ shared the news via his Facebook page, wherein he congratulated the president on his incredible tenure in office. "I couldn’t tell y’all before, but I can tell y’all now...we’re out here at the farewell address of the President of the United States, Mr. Barack Obama," he said in a video uploaded yesterday, "This is his last day in office and it’s an honor to sing his last song." Watch his message below.
BJ the Chicago Kid is fresh off releasing a new mixtape titled The Lost Files: Cuffing Season, which comes hot on the heels of his studio album In My Mind also released last year. Watch his music video for "Church," featuring fellow Chicago native Chance the Rapper, below.
