During a recent performance of his sell-out 'Boy Meets World' Tour, Drake took some time to bring the crowd together to celebrate unity. But in was offset by a very different message, one that saw the rapper subtly condemning U.S. President Donald Trump for the first time.
Speaking on the current political and social climate, he said “For some reason in my room, they got the TV set to CNN every day. I wake up, I see all this bullsh*t going on in the world - people trying to tear us apart, people trying to make us turn against each other. So tonight, my proudest moment isn’t selling tickets, or having people sing my songs… my proudest moment, if you take a look around in this room, you’ll see people from all races and all places and all we did tonight was come inside this building show love, celebrate life, more life and more music.”
Just like Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl performance, Trump wasn’t explicitly mentioned; but the call for unity was still very clear. Drake continued, “And I just want you to understand, if you ever thought for a second that any one man can tear this world apart you’re out of your motherf*cking mind. It’s on us to keep this sh*t together! F*ck that man!” Watch the clip below.
This is one of the first times Drake has been politically outspoken since vocalizing his concern for the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of Alton Sterling’s killing by police. Stay tuned to see if Trump will seek retribution via Twitter.
