When you hit the road with Major Lazer and spend days on end with their crew, it seems only natural you would develop an ear for dancehall. But for Cadenza, a multi-talented producer and rising solo artist, it was but the latest effort in a budding career of crafting impeccable dancehall music. And no further proof of this talent can be found than his brand new single "Til We Do It", which we are excited to give its world premiere to below. Give it a listen:
"Til We Do It", featuring Prynce Mini and Bugle, is the first taste we have of Cadenza (alias Oliver Rodigan)'s upcoming EP Hijack, which promises to be a superb collection of his work. It exemplifies his talent in stitching together the sounds of Jamaican and British artists together as one might stitch a patchwork quilt, creating a finished work that is seamless and unified in its vision to utterly jam.
Speaking of the track's genesis, Cadenza says that "I was in Kingston last February and I got linked up with Bugle to do a session. I played him a beat that was about 115bpm and had a sort of Massive Attack vibe, and he jumped straight on it with a hook. But when I came back to London, I couldn’t figure out how to finish the track. So I built something totally new which had more tempo and transferred it over. A couple weeks after, I saw Prynce was going on my mates NTS show ("Circadian Rhythms"). I checked him out and knew he would be the right fit so we linked up and got it done."
Stay tuned for Cadenza's Hijack EP. For more of our track premieres, check out this offering from ThiDaniel.
