In the multitude of seminal Justin Timberlake singles that have come our way in his decade-plus career as a solo artist, "Señorita" remains one of his best. Produced by the inimitable Pharrell Williams, it is a song that serves as a quintessential example of his unique blend of being adorable and sexy. So it come as something of a shock to hear this track completely turned on its head as a dark, brooding bit of melancholy, which is precisely how it sounds in "Voodoo," the newest single from Lais. Check it out below.
Lais and producer LUHJÉ spin the JT classic into a different beast entirely with the exquisite blend of the former's honeyed tones and the latter's clockwork-like production. And keeping in line with their inspired sample, Lais even displays a bit of his Spanish-speaking skills to maximum effect.
After a relatively quiet 2016, Lais is hurtling out of the gate in 2017 with a need for speed. "Voodoo" is the third single he has dropped in three weeks, building hype ever stronger for his upcoming full-length SESSIION which is set to drop at the end of this month. And if that weren't enough, the Torontoan has also found time to launch a high-fashion line, pieces of which were debuted in his recent music video for "Cocaine Rain."
Stay tuned for further release information on SESSIION. Check out the video for Lais's previous single "Cocaine Rain" below.
