In addition to being a respected artist, curator and gallerist, Takashi Murakami also has quite the affinity for Japanese contemporary ceramics. Alongside collecting such goods, Murakami is the proprietor of Oz Zingaro, a shop specializing in contemporary ceramics.

Now, the creative’s expansive collection comes to the Towada Art Center in an exhibition showcasing over 300 artworks from 28 individuals in Murakami’s collection. Works come from such ceramic artists as Ryo Aoki, Masanobu Ando, Shin Murata, Yoshitomo Nara, Naoki Koide, Chiho Aoshima, Otani Workshop, Gabriel Orozco, Rosemarie Trockel, and Klara Kristalova, among others.

The installation marks Murakami’s first time curating a ceramics exhibition at an art museum, now open to the public through May 28.
