Pepsi just dropped a new ad starring Kendall Jenner and Twitter isn’t having it. The ad, which you can see above, shows Jenner taking part in a photoshoot before discarding her wig to join the protest. It then inexplicably culminates in Jenner facing off a line of police officers and then handing one a Pepsi — with the crowd behind her erupting in cheers.

People have accused the ad of being tone deaf and co-opting movements for women’s rights and racial justice. What’s worse, the ad began trending last night, which was also the 49th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s assassination.

Amid the controversy, Pepsi released a statement reading: “This is a global ad that reflects people from different walks of life coming together in a spirit of harmony, and we think that’s an important message to convey.” But it seems like the only harmony Pepsi achieved was bringing people together to trash on the brand.

People pointed out the ridiculousness of the advert when there is widespread protests against police brutality

Making things even worse, one user pointed out that Jenner threw her wig at a Black woman to join the protest
